The print is published to raise funds for RAVON to rescue the firesalamander, which is almost extinct in Holland, with 96% smaller population in recent years.

herman de vries is representing The Netherlands at the 56th International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia. The exhibition shows new sculptures, objects, works on paper and photographs. Among the works are 84 earth rubbings on paper, the journal from the laguna of venice, a circle of 108 pounds of rosa damascena buds, a series of the rasenstücke and other new installations. There are new works installed as a sanctuary on the island of Lazaretto Vecchio in the Venetian lagoon.
The exhibition is curated by Cees de Boer and Colin Huizing and commissioned by the Mondriaan Fund. And extensive catalogue is published with texts by herman de vries, Jean-Hubert Martin, Cees de Boer, Colin Huizing and Birgit Donker.
