Dick Cassée – postcard from Skye

Portree - Skye, 20 October 2009
postcard from Dick Cassée from the Isle of Skye

... on the journey there and back from the Hebrides, Harris and Lewis, the Shiants were covered in a veil of silvery-white mist, I perceived a shade; I thought. On my photograph almost nothing. ...

After visiting the Isle of Skye in the late Summer – where we were staying near the coast with a view to the Shiant Isles – I am reading Searoom, the book about the Shiants, by Adam Nicolson, the 'owner' of these Islands.

Château de Pierrefonds

Château de Pierrefonds, Picardie, redesigned and rebuild by the French architect Viollet-le-Duc in the 19th Century. Viollet-le-Duc also restored the beautiful Basilique Ste-Madeleine in Vézelay and the Notre-Dame Cathedral. Viollet-le-Duc is considered as one of the first theorists of modern architecture.
Although the castle in Pierrefonds does recall Walt Disney or Cinderella, the design has a light and clear design which looks also modern.

Richard Long – Tube Map

Richard Long has designed the new Tube Map cover for the London Underground.
The design is resembling the I Ching hexagram symbolising Earth, the black grid referencing the Northern Line and the colours are those used for the lines of the map.
